Nothing contributes so much to tranquillize the mind...

...as a steady purpose.

Basic Info
Name:Mary Shelley
Birthdate:08-30
Location:Pennsylvania, United States
Bio
.Mary Shelley;
"Teach him to think for himself? Oh, my God, teach him rather to think like other people!"
.ic; the horror
Before I could ever compose the horror of my genius that is 'Frankenstein', I had to live it, and even relive it then. Even after the book sales and recognition and prestigious awards, I still find myself haunted by my own Frankenstein, my own tortured creation to which I failed to bring to life. He cries to me in bloodcurdling sorrow and his screams echo through every waking and slumbering hour I suffer, and I find myself chained to him like a prisoner, which only makes me hurt more to know that I loved him before he was ever born. This is why I am here now.
.ooc; the story;
Mary was sixteen when she met Percy Shelley, and with him and her stepsister Claire Clairmont, she traveled through Europe. On their return to England, Mary discovered she was pregnant, but miscarried the child when it was born prematurely. Percy married her shortly afterward, and they and Claire traveled to visit Lord George Byron for a summer (along with a doctor John William Polidori) where Mary found the inspiration to write a now-famous horror novel 'Frankenstein' [ooc; ...we'll pretend 'Frankenstein' is a modern hit that surpasses 'Twilight' mmk?] though in the midst of the vacation, Mary fell victim to her depression over her lost child and the horrors that Byron seeded into her mind, which that she began to slowly loose. The specifics of how it happened are unclear but she soon found herself being packed and shipped to America where she was admitted into Gale Psychiatric Hospital.

i am not Mary Shelley nor do i claim to be; i am undertaking a fictional portrayal of her character for a roleplay, [info]fully_baked_rp.
